Studies show that the incidence of addictive disorders in psychiatric patients is high. Combining the treatment of chemical dependency and a psychiatric illness can result in a more positive outcome. Matching patients to specific treatment plans requires sophisticated understanding of the nature of the disorder of drugs and abuse. Timberlawn Mental Health System’s Dual Diagnosis Program adheres to an integrated approach, in which the problems are addressed simultaneously. This means acknowledging the complex relationships between the dual problems, as well as creating a unique, integrated and long-term treatment plan for each patient.
We provide a specialized treatment team with expertise in addictionology, psychopathology, and psychopharmacology.
Medical Detoxification-Inpatient medical detoxification consists of medical treatment and supervision of withdrawal from drug(s) or alcohol for individuals who are physically dependent. The treatment is supervised by psychiatrists and registered nurses.
12 Step Participation-Timberlawn collaborates with a variety of recognized substance abuse support programs within and outside the Metroplex. Support groups are implemented in our program structure with outside programs leading groups 2-3 times per week with patients.
Relapse Prevention-Each patient has a relapse prevention plan completed upon assessment.
After Care Planning-Each Dual Diagnosis patient has appointments set up on discharge to continue treatment and maintain sobriety.
